my story
I was born and raised in the concrete jungle of Tokyo in a family with a typical “salaryman” (a company employee), a housewife mother, and paternal grandparents.
In elementary school, I was a diligent student with a positive attitude and even participated in various extracurricular activities daily.
In junior high and high school, I struggled to gain high grades in a private school and experienced a major setback. Instead of focusing on studying, I devoted myself to the activities of the badminton club.
I was accepted into the Faculty of Arts at a university in Tokyo, where I studied broadcasting. I then had the opportunity to study abroad in Canada with no English language skills. There, I experienced culture shock, which led me to develop a love of Western countries and cultures.
After university, I devoted three years to the entertainment industry in Japan, working tirelessly around the clock until mental exhaustion led me to resign.
Later, I regained my mentality to the point where I could even look back on it as a precious time.
In my late 20s, I flew on a working holiday visa to New Zealand, which I had visited on a business trip for his previous job. From the day of arrival, I fell in love with New Zealand.
At the end of March 2020, I returned to Japan temporarily for family reasons. My original plan was to go back to NZ and study at a university, but due to the pandemic, I was stuck in Japan.
In 2021, I completed a certified course for a Japanese language teacher during the pandemic.
In February 2024, I finally returned to New Zealand and began my life as a university student for the first time in decades.
My story
